Short Title

s. 1

This Order may be cited as the Marking of Imported Goods Order.

Marking of Goods

s. 2
s. 2(1)

Subject to section 3, goods of a description or class specified in an item of the schedule and imported into Canada shall be marked, stamped, branded or labelled in legible English or French words, in a conspicuous place that shall not be covered or obscured by any subsequent attachments or arrangements, so as to indicate the country of origin.

s. 2(2)

The marking, stamping, branding or labelling prescribed by subsection (1) shall be as nearly indelible and permanent as the nature of the goods will permit.

s. 3

This Order does not apply to goods that are

s. 3(a)

donations for charitable purposes and not for the purpose of sale;

s. 3(b)

gifts or bequests;

s. 3(c)

antiques;

s. 3(d)

used goods, with the exception of iron or steel pipes and tubes;

s. 3(e)

for the exclusive use of the importer or his employees and not for resale to the general public, with the exception of iron or steel pipes and tubes;

s. 3(f)

imported under tariff item No. 9808.00.00, 9809.00.00 or 9810.00.00 of the Customs Tariff; or

s. 3(g)

imported for subsequent exportation from Canada with the exception of iron or steel pipes and tubes.
