Provision

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, pursuant to paragraph 23(g) a of the Territorial Lands Act, hereby makes the annexed Northwest Territories Mining District and Nunavut Mining District Order. S.C. 1992, c. 1, s. 144(1), Sch. VII, s. 50(1)

Districts

s. 1

The territorial lands of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut are hereby divided into two mining districts, described as follows:

s. 1(a)

the Northwest Territories Mining District, comprising the area described in Schedule 1; and

s. 1(b)

the Nunavut Mining District, comprising the area described in Schedule 2.

SCHEDULE 1

Northwest Territories Mining District

Provision

All that area that includes all that part of Canada north of the sixtieth parallel of north latitude and west of the boundary described in Schedule I to the Nunavut Act that is not within the Yukon Territory.

SCHEDULE 2

Nunavut Mining District

Provision

All that area that includes

(a)

all that part of Canada north of the sixtieth parallel of north latitude and east of the western boundary of Nunavut described in Schedule I to the Nunavut Act that is not within Quebec or Newfoundland; and

(b)

the islands in Hudson Bay, James Bay and Ungava Bay that are not within Manitoba, Ontario or Quebec.
