Provision

His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, is pleased hereby

(a)

pursuant to paragraph 2(b) of the Public Service Rearrangement and Transfer of Duties Act, to revoke paragraph (b) of Order in Council P.C. 1993-1489 of June 25, 1993* and to de-amalgamate the Department of the Secretary of State of Canada, the Department of Multiculturalism and Citizenship and the Department of Communications that were amalgamated by that Order in Council; and SI/93-143, 1993 Canada Gazette Part II, p. 3235

(b)

pursuant to paragraph 2(a) of that Act, to transfer from the Secretary of State of Canada

(i)

to the Minister of Communications the powers, duties and functions referred to in clauses (a)(ii)(A) and (C) of Order in Council P.C. 1993-1489 of June 25, 1993*, and

(ii)

to the Minister of Multiculturalism and Citizenship the powers, duties and functions referred to in clause (a)(ii)(B) of Order in Council P.C. 1993-1489 of June 25, 1993*.
