His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, is pleased hereby

(a)
(i)

to the Department of Communications the control and supervision of

(A)

those portions of the Department of the Secretary of State referred to in clauses (a)(i)(A) to (C) of Order in Council P.C. 1993-1489 of June 25, 1993*, and SI/93-143, 1993 Canada Gazette Part II, p. 3235

(B)

all portions of the Department of the Secretary of State, other than the portions referred to in paragraph (b) of Order in Council P.C. 1993-1901 of November 4, 1993**, and SI/93-201, 1993 Canada Gazette Part II, p. 3996

to the Minister of Communications

(A)

all the powers, duties and functions of the Secretary of State of Canada under any Act of Parliament, other than the powers, duties and functions referred to in paragraph (a) of Order in Council P.C. 1993-1901 of November 4, 1993**, and

(B)

all the powers, duties and functions of the Minister of Multiculturalism and Citizenship under any Act of Parliament, other than the powers, duties and functions relating to citizenship transferred to the Secretary of State of Canada by subparagraph (a)(iv) of Order in Council P.C. 1993-1901 of November 4, 1993**; and

(b)

pursuant to paragraph 2(b) of that Act, to amalgamate and combine the Department of Communications and the Department of Multiculturalism and Citizenship under the Minister of Communications and under the Deputy Minister of Communications.
