His Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that it is in the public interest to do so, on the recommendation of the Treasury Board and the Minister of National Revenue, pursuant to subsection 23(2.1)* of the Financial Administration Act, is pleased hereby to make the annexed Order respecting the remission of certain storage charges paid or payable under section 4 of the Storage of Goods Regulations. Short Title

This Order may be cited as the Storage Charges Remission Order, 1993.

Remission

Subject to section 3, remission is hereby granted of the storage charges paid or payable under section 4 of the Storage of Goods Regulations in an amount equal to the amount by which

the storage charges paid or payable under section 4 of those Regulations for the period beginning on September 18, 1986 and ending on September 14, 1988

exceed

the storage charges that would have been paid or payable for that period if the storage charges had been payable beginning on the fourth business day after the day on which the goods were left at the customs office.

Condition

Remission in respect of storage charges that have been paid is granted on the condition that a claim for remission is made to the Minister of National Revenue within two years after the day on which this Order is made.
