Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Natural Resources, pursuant to subsections 13(2) and (3) of the Donkin Coal Block Development Opportunity Act a, hereby makes the annexed Exploitation of the Donkin Coal Block (Natural Resources) Regulations. S.C. 2007, c. 33

s. 1 — Definition

In these Regulations, Nova Scotia laws means the Acts and regulations of Nova Scotia, as amended from time to time, set out in Schedule 1 and, for greater certainty, includes regulations made under one or more of those Acts after the coming into force of these Regulations, unless otherwise provided.

s. 2 — Nova Scotia Interpretation Act

The Nova Scotia Interpretation Act (R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 235), as amended from time to time, applies to the interpretation of the Nova Scotia laws, with the adaptation set out in Schedule 2.

s. 3 — Incorporation of Nova Scotia laws

The Nova Scotia laws are incorporated by reference and apply, with the adaptation set out in Schedule 2, to the exploitation of the Donkin coal block.

s. 4 — Coming into force

These Regulations come into force on the day on which they are registered.

Mineral Resources Act (S.N.S. 1990, c. 18) and its regulations, except for sections 81 and 112 of that Act

Petroleum Resources Act (R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 342) and its regulations, except for sections 7 and 10 and subsection 14(2) of that Act and subsection 20(2) of the Petroleum Resources Regulations (N.S. Reg. 178/85)

Adaptation of the Petroleum Resources Regulations

1 — Hiring obligations

In section 22, the reference to “Sections 20 and 21” is to be read as a reference to “Section 21”.
