His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance, pursuant to paragraph 50.1(3)(b)* of the Excise Tax Act, is pleased hereby to make the annexed Regulations prescribing the manner of adjusting the Industrial Product Price Indices for Motor Gasoline and Diesel Oil. R.S., c. 42 (2nd Supp.), ss. 6(3)

Short Title

These Regulations may be cited as the Industrial Product Price Indices Adjustment Regulations.

Adjustment of the Industrial Product Price Index for Motor Gasoline

For the purposes of paragraph 50.1(2)(a) of the Excise Tax Act, the Industrial Product Price Index for Motor Gasoline released by Statistics Canada for each of the twelve months immediately preceding October 1985 shall be adjusted by

multiplying the index by 0.8804; and

rounding the result obtained under paragraph (a) to the nearest one-tenth or, if the result obtained is equidistant from two one-tenths, to the greater thereof.

Adjustment of the Industrial Product Price Index for Diesel Oil

For the purposes of paragraph 50.1(2)(a) of the Excise Tax Act, the Industrial Product Price Index for Diesel Oil released by Statistics Canada for each of the twelve months immediately preceding October 1985 shall be adjusted by

multiplying the index by 0.9681; and

rounding the result obtained under paragraph (a) to the nearest one-tenth or, if the result obtained is equidistant from two one-tenths, to the greater thereof.
