— Definitions
In this regulation:
s. 1
— antifreeze
antifreeze includes engine coolant;
s. 1
— motor vehicle
motor vehicle has the same meaning as in the Motor Vehicle Act.
s. 2
— Prohibition
Subject to section 3, a person must not sell antifreeze that contains 10% or more ethylene glycol by weight.
s. 3
— Exceptions
Section 2 does not apply to antifreeze
s. 3(a)
that contains at least 30 but no more than 50 parts per million by weight of denatonium benzonate bittering agent,
s. 3(b)
contained within a motor vehicle for sale or lease, or
s. 3(c)
of a volume greater than 200 litres contained in a single container.
s. 4
— Offence and penalty
A person who contravenes section 2 commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $200 000.
