s. 1 — Definitions

In this Regulation,

s. 1 — emergency vehicle

“emergency vehicle” means an ambulance, a fire department vehicle or a police department vehicle; (“véhicule de secours”)

s. 1 — public transit vehicle

“public transit vehicle” means,

s. 1(a)

a vehicle operated by or on behalf of a municipality, or

s. 1(b)

a bus operated by the Greater Toronto Transit Authority, also known as GO Transit; (“véhicule de transport en commun”)

s. 1 — traffic signal maintenance vehicle

“traffic signal maintenance vehicle” means a vehicle that is used by or on behalf of a road authority to maintain traffic control signal systems. (“véhicule d’entretien de la signalisation de la circulation”) ; ;

s. 2 — Exemptions from prohibition

The following vehicles are exempt from the prohibition in subsection 79.1 (1) of the Act against pre-empting traffic control signal devices:

s. 2(1)

Public transit vehicles.

s. 2(2)

Emergency vehicles.

s. 2(3)

Traffic signal maintenance vehicles, so long as the pre-empting traffic control signal device is being used only to test traffic control signal systems or to test the pre-empting traffic control signal device.
