    Where the new corporation would not, in a taxation year of the new corporation commencing on or after the time of the amalgamation, satisfy the requirements of paragraph (3)(e) because the last functional currency year of the predecessor referred to in subsection (14) in respect of the amalgamation is, because of paragraph (15)(b) the last functional currency year of the new corporation, paragraph (15)(b) shall not apply, for the purposes of paragraph (3)(e), to the new corporation in respect of the predecessor if the total of all amounts each of which is the cost amount, at the end of the taxation year of the new corporation that began at the time of the amalgamation, to the new corporation of a property that, immediately before the amalgamation, was a property of the predecessor (or property substituted for such property) is less than 50% of the total of all amounts each of which is the cost amount, at the end of that taxation year of the new corporation, to the new corporation of a property of the new corporation.
